I Can Live Like That

Fooling around in the kitchen with no pants on
Brushing our teeth together facing the mirror
Legs that graze and intertwine between the sheets
Glorious breakfasts that more often felt like feasts

Early mornings we head off to work holding hands
Friday nights spent drinking and watching our favorite bands
Sleeping in, watching TV, curtains closed, curled on the bed
Sneaking in a butt grab, a back hug, a kiss on the forehead

Toasting thin slices of potatoes for a midnight snack
Heading off without an idea what time we'll get back
My fingers running border-free across your body
Knowing there is nothing off-limits for you and me

Hearing your heartbeat pounding beneath my ears
You taking the frontline to face my fears
Staring into your eyes until all is quiet and still
No words filled the air, because we know how we feel.

Ever since we came together, we never were apart
As if finally I have located the echo of my own heart.
