And all is well in love and war
As we go to board games not very far
Fingers intertwined for friends to see
Focusing on the game, sitting close to me
Meeting your friends and getting teased
Those high school laughter that we missed
Aware that we will watch another movie tonight
Leaving only until the time is right
And as the city lights blinked we held hands
On cue and as if it is what our hearts command
You did not let me go even if we ran into
The past that you have let go for me too.
In the twisted pang of my shock and guilt
You held me closer within the walls you built
Leaned softly into my neck
The sweet aroma has that effect
And I don't mind that you are too close
That our hands touch in an intoxicating dose
The way we walked over at the balcony
How your arms wrapped tighter around me
On a whim you wanted to go to a place afar
Feel the breezy wind, or watch the stars
On a whim I wanted to go with you
We hopped into our ride and bid adieu
To the familiarity of home
Into the exhilarating pull of the unknown
The streets were empty, the church was quiet
But word you said made me all the more love it
In transit sitting next to you
I always feel safe even though I don't have the clue
We reached bayside at sat on the dock
Back to back with our fingers interlocked
The moon shines over the bay
The wind howls and everything is okay
In silence we learned that it is 4 in the morning
The moment was golden, peaceful and I was dozing
Your shoulders were the refuge I laid on
Just mere hours until dawn
They were soft, sturdy and strong
Grasping around your waist for long
I could lay there on your shoulders forever
For I know no harm could come to me ever
As long as you are there I am safe and sound
Oh what a comfort I have found
Your cheeks pressed against my cheeks
Nothing that your touch can't fix
Quickly you pressed your lips to mine
Not sure if I was asleep or drunk at tasting wine
As the cold breeze rushed into my hair
I could just lie knowing your are there
This moment in a land afar I will treasure
What more beautiful moment could ever measure?
