Authenticity

As you mourn for shadows that had moved past
The ghosts that only you can see
Times that fluttered away that to you seems to stay
After everybody has left you.

In solitude you find that people were better
When they were with you.
They seem to have wider smiles
And eyes that dream well of yesterday.

Their hair seems to be perfectly out of place
The surroundings like the universe conspired
In perfect detail you can tell the most minute details
Of long-gone memories stamped behind your mind.

Yet when you look at the same person now from afar
They seem to not represent who they were as you remembered them.

Are their smiles still genuine so as to wrinkle their eyes
And devour their mouth?
Do their touch still make time stand still in a captivating moment
That sends your heart booming out of your chest?

Is their voice still quivering and hushed only for your ears to hear?
Is your meeting place still quiet in the most tucked corners?
Does their candid loveliness still hold your gaze?
Are their words still seem to be straight out of poetry?

They doesn't seem like so.

Somehow, the stillness and the vulnerability has worn off
Ever since you have left them.
Now you still seem them laugh, speak, act
And yet you do not feel anything.

Have you broken the spell they have cast on to you
Or have they lost the magic that once drew you in?
