A pang of regret to accompany the pain
Like a drop of citrus in an open wound
It was all my choice, and I should not complain
But I also should have left while I still could
It hit me like a fast-approaching bullet from a dark corner
Gasping, out of breath, I didn't know what hit me
There was no way to escape my shooter
When in the blind spot emerged him whom I did not see
As I lay almost lifeless, swimming in my own blood
I wished I had never ignored the signs when I saw them
Thought this was different, thought this was worth the shot
Now the song that plays on the background is a sad requiem
